does your family celebrate independence day for a country other than the u.s?

my fiance is black and I'm Brasilian born but I'm half Mexican through my dad

In our house we celebrate

December 6 - slavery was abolished
September 7- Brasilian independence day
September16- Mexican independence day
July 4- U.S independence

We want our son to carry our roots and culture with pride so we teach him all about our origins

What about your family? Are there any other traditions you value and celebrate?

  • Not the independence days of other countries. I am of Polish decent and he of German. We are and live as Americans, so we celebrate the 4th of July. We do however use traditions and dishes for holidays from our heritage.

  • I live in Canada so I celebrate Dominion Day or Canada Day as it is better known on July 1st.
