Is there a way to get wine out of a wedding dress?

Have a wedding dress that had wine spilt on it. The Dry Cleaners said they couldn't get it out. Do you have a home made answer?

  • Depends on the material. Really depends. Usually I recommend salt because its the least harmful to materials but I can't say without knowing more. I would ask another dry cleaner.

  • I would also ask another dry cleaner. My sisters grandmother-in-law can get a stain out of anything! she runs a daycare not a drycleaner, but those kids are mess makers. Shes like a master stain remover, so there HAS to be a dry cleaner who can get it out.

  • Cassie Kellison, can you ask your Grandma what she'd use? Thanks

  • What color is the wine and how long has it been there?

My first thought is hydrogen peroxide. Whatever you decide to try, test it on a small un-noticeable area first to make sure it won't stain your dress and make it worse.

If your dress is white you may be able to bleach it, too.

  • the trouble with bleach though is that if its a satin or silk dress it will make the white material yellowish!
