  • The U.S. poverty rate has skyrocketed by a record amount under the Obama administration, with one out of seven Americans considered poor last year, according to a report Saturday.

Kinda speaks for itself if you are talking about this current rise in poverty stricken families.
Obama must be loving it. He can help so many more people now.

I don't actually blame him for Poverty itself of course. That's been around for ages. Mostly, it's a personal thing. The lack of personal responsibility has a good bit to do with poverty. When we hit on hard times the level goes up understandably but there are things that can be done to make it worse or better.

  • I don't think Obama is totally to blame for this. It started a long time ago, we now have several generations expecting the govt to take care of them. However, he continues to contribute to the problem.

  • "Left-wing politicians take away your liberty in the name of children and of fighting poverty, while right-wing politicians do it in the name of family values and fighting drugs. Either way, government gets bigger and you become less free." – Harry Browne

"When you subsidize poverty and failure, you get more of both." – James Dale Davidson

  • The article says "on Obama's watch". it seems unfair to blame him solely for two dozen years of poor economic policies...

  • the government is at fault doesn't matter who is president at the time, that and illegal immigrants are also a big cause. the government likes that people use there welfare, that way they can keep people down. it has been proven time and again that those on the government assistants have to work three to four jobs just to scrape by once they are off welfare. it is easy to be on welfare then to get off of welfare, even if you get a job or more then one job you will probably still be using government assistance. such as daycare assistance which cost the tax payer a ton of money. plus the family will most likely still qualify for health insurance and food stamps even though they are working. And now with the economy the way it is i don't see it getting any better until we start seeing some jobs opening up.
