  • Eat healthy, take care of your body, start taking prenatals... when it comes to the actual birth, I've had 3 all natural water births. The best thing was being prepared. We took a childbirth class specifically for those wanting a natural birth (they only discussed "pain management" in passing). If you can afford one, hire a doula!!! She is trained in pain management and can ease the pains (without causing you to go numb) of labor and childbirth. Check and see if there is a birth center close to you (all 3 of mine were born in a birth center but the next one will be a home birth), or call local midwives and talk to them about what you want. Most midwives I know are very friendly and open to talking whether you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Good luck!

  • Eat healthy, take care of your body, start taking prenatals, Do lots of reading up on natural births and home births. Meet with a midwife or more. Find one you are comfort with. Get books, read on line, talking lots with your hubby about it(you both need to be on the same page about it)

  • Read, research, become informed, supported, confident!
There are plenty of ways to go about this.
The location, the attendants, the mom's confidence can really make a huge difference!

    Good luck~ and ENJOY!

  • How exciting for you!! :)

My first birth was drug free in a hospital, and my second was at home. The groups Birth Is Normal and Natural Pregnancy and Childbirth have tons of resources, and plenty of knowledgeable ladies eager to help you out. Also, you and your husband should watch The Business of Being Born together. It is available to watch instantly on Netflix if you have that.
