Need new dinner ideas!

I never really learned how to cook but I really want to. Tired of all the same stuff. I just don't know how to make other things. We usually have steak, pork chops, mamwhich, and a macoronni dish. What else?

  • Easy:
    1) Cook some beef rice-a-roni, add browned ground-beef and some corn & peas. Yummy with soysauce. Serve with some steamed broccoli.

    2) Pick apart a cooled rotisserie chicken, toss with a package of Caesar salad mix and dressing. Wrap in spinach tortilla wraps. Serve with baked potato chips.

    3) Brown groundbeef and season with taco seasoning. Pile on top of Frito chips and cheese. Top with lettuce, onion, tomato, avocado and salsa.

    4) Cook a beef roast in the crockpot with 2 cans of Italian tomatoes. Serve over pasta. Serve with some sauteed zucchini.

*We always have a plate of tomatoes (various heirloom types from the farmers market), cucumber, celery and radishes on the table.

  • Try looking at some of the recipe websites: allrecipes.com or tasteofhome.com and see what you like. Also, there are several interesting cooking groups on Cafemom that have tons of good recipes from group members: Recipe Swap! is a great one, Casserole Moms, or Crock Pot Moms.

  • You can watch TV shows and/or buy magazines and try different recipes. I always buy Food Network Magazine, it's my favorite one.
