  • Freecycle is often a great source for free yarn and crafting materials. I got a lot of yarn when I was just starting out. Another option that some are comfy with and others aren't is writing a yarn company like Red Heart and offering to write a review of their product for skeins to complete such-and-such project...I have done this with tremendous success but I like writing reviews, too. It works for many different things from yarn to scrapbooking supplies to food items to cook with.

  • I was going to mention craigslist or freecycle but also thrift stores.
I bought 2 huge bags, (the size comforters come in) for around 7.00.
It isn't easy to find in thrift stores but i do come across some good deals every once in a while. Also watch yard sales of some cheap yarn deals

  • look at yard sales and on craigslist. Alot of times people cleaning out a home for an elderly family member come across thier stash of yarn and just want it gone
