What's wrong with my sons toenail? (pictured)

My son is a year old now and i first noticed his weird toenail about a month after he was born. It kinda looks like another toenail growing under his regular toenail. If i pick at it he kicks my hand away so i don't know if it hurts or it's just annoying when i touch it. has anyone seen or heard of anything like this?

I don't know how to post a picture so im hoping on of these work

  • i was goign to say too it looks liek a fungal infection under his nail, which is growing happily under the top layer, hence why it looks liek two nails. i tmayhave started with a small bruise and then got infected. OR it may be an ingrown toenail, where the corner has caught UNDER his skin and now the nail is painfully growin ginto his skin on the corner fo his toe. this can also cause an infection underneath, now it isnt goign away. keep it trimmed and put hydrogen peroxide with water on it, and go for a checkup with a doctor. does it hurt him? shoudl get a checkup. CUTE toes tho so take care if them of course

  • Fungus. Seek medical advice. He will lose the nail if not treated and can infect the others as well. They give adults pills, Not sure what they give children. Yes, I am sure it is sore and hurts. In the meantime, keep it clean.
