Do you vote people down because you disagree with them?

If your opinion differs from anothers do you vote them down? I never vote people up or down because I don't care, but I'm just curious as to what others do. I've seen some fine answers being voted down.

  • No, everyone is entitled to their opinion. The only time I vote an answer down is when it's unnecessarily mean, vicious, or provoking.

  • No I vote down for rude comments, misinformation (like information that isn't true), and flat out insults. I don't vote down for differences of opinion, unless the way they word that opinion is rude or somehow puts down another poster.

  • I have voted down a few rude comments but nothing that is just a different opinion. I learn a lot by those. I can't understand why some are so touchy about the answers. I see some answers get voted down and can't figure out why they were offensive.

  • First of all, maybe you should think about it as voting down the answer, not the person. Who posted it has nothing to do with why you should vote because this is not a popularity contest. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I cannot remember ever actually voting something down. If something was really nasty or just plain wrong, I would possibly vote it down but I usually just ignore statements that are ignorant. Makes life much more pleasant!
