Does anybody know anything about the Charleston, SC area? Such as areas to avoid as far as crime is concerned or good hotels and areas to stay in. I am planning a trip there and don't know much about the area. Don't particularly want to arrive there with a 5 month old baby only discover that I have lodged us in the middle of the ghetto. I don't want to pay big bucks for a room but somewhere safe and clean works for me! HELP!

IDK about that. But some friends of mine just came back from there & said it was the coolest place ever. They want to sell their house in St. Augustine FL & buy a beach house in Charleston. Have fun! I would like to visit one day! Where are you from? I think its hilarious that you're scared of ending up in a ghetto. Are you a country girl? From what i heard, Charleston is a beautiful peaceful place.

I can totally understand. i was worried when i moved to Atlanta that i would get lost in the ghetto too. But, I've lived here for 10 years & still have not even been in the "ghetto". Here is a forum i found for you. They have street names listed where you might not want to venture into...
