Do you make your own butter?

Do your store it in a butter crock or another way?

  • I haven't since we left MS, we tried it when we had friends with Jersey cows and too much milk. We just put it in tupperware type containers and froze it.

  • We have the kids do it with a quart mason jar on Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is never much left over so storage isn't a problem.

  • I don't make my own butter now, but I used to make butter in school for our little activities during the holidays in third and fourth grades. As to how we stored it, we used it as soon as it was made. But I will definately be looking into a butter crock.

  • I wouldn't do it for day to day use..but for special occaisions it's nice. I have my great grandmothers buter churn. We pull it out and tell the stories and show how it was done while they are all taking turns shaking the mason jar.(we don't use the churn itself) It only takes a few minutes. Heavy cream, a clean jar and pepple to shake..thats it.
