Do you ever itch when you are trying to fall asleep?

Maybe a weird sounding question, but this is a strange phenomena that I've noticed about myself. When I am really tired, I sometimes have trouble falling asleep because I have little itches all over my body. I'm thinking it's neurological, because there's no identifiable physical cause--no new lotions, detergents, etc., and this only happens when I'm sleep deprived. The itches are random and all over--a spot on my shin will itch, then maybe my back or abdomen, arm, cheek, it moves all over. No bug bites, either. Does this happen to anyone else?

  • This happens to my husband! Pretty much every night he lays down in bed and gets itchy. He keeps a back scratcher on his nightstand. Some nights he feels so itchy he will take a benadryl.

  • It's my problem too. Mostly my feet and/or ankles itch. I honestly thought it was weird, now I know I'm not alone.

  • I take Benadryl, too, KT, but it doesn't help. It enhances my sleepiness, but does nothing for the itching--another reason I'm pretty sure it's a neurological thing. At least I know I'm not alone in this! (misery loves company!)

  • It's called Restless Leg Syndrome, though it can affect other parts of your body. It is a neurological condition and you should go see your Dr if it's disturbing you.

  • Every night, it never fails! I'll be itch free until a few minutes into laying down. Every possible part on my body itches. I scratch one, another place itches. Nothing in my lifestyle changed! It drives me CRAZY. I itch after I get up. Someone please if you have another solution other than benadryl, please share! I can't afford a doctor and I'm all but ripping my skin off!
