anyone have a husband that is a narcissist? Any suggestions on dealing with it.

  • My ex thought he was the perfect person in every way, and I stayed for 18 years and finally decided (well, it took me the last 4 of those 18 years to finally do it) that I couldn't live like that for the rest of my life. He was perfect and me and the kids always needed to improve in some way. Nope, I got out of that situation and am so glad I did. He wasn't abusive, but it's almost a form of mental abuse when someone thinks they are perfect and everyone else around them needs to change in some way because they are not good enough.

  • My DH calls himself "the greatest living american".

    I don't have trouble ignoring that part of him but i try to focus the positive characteristics...like confidence.

  • Yeah. Leave while you still can. It gets worse with time. Wish I had had someone tell ME that years ago.
