Do you get paid a fair wage for the work you do?

I think I do. I find it irritating the company feels the need to remind me how much more I make if we consider the benefits package, too.

  • Really? Can I hear more? As an HR Director we (I) pretty much only hear from employees how they are underpaid and undervalued even though I lose sleep at night trying to find ways to compensate and reward our employees. I really do want to hear your thoughts.. I'm not trying to start a debate. I feel that even though I ask, our employees are not straightforward with me/us with what would make them happy. Why? I don't know.. but I'm listening!!!!

  • Not really. I'm a hotel housekeeper, and before the minimum wage was raised to $8.25/hr. I did. I'm working at that pay grade and have been with my company for 7 years. I don't get any benefits, so I can't figure that in. I should be earning anywhere between $ 8.75 and $10.50/hr.

  • Yes, I may good money that I work very hard for. However the value of my benefits is equal to the value of my paycheck. Go find out the cost of a good health benefit plan, dental, pension, 401(k) match, et al and I think you'll see why they tout that value. We used to get an annual statement showing the value of those benefits.
