Everyday it's the same discussion

My 5 going on 6 year old has the same questions for me everyday:
can we go to mcdonalds?
can we go to the store?
momma, buy me a toy.
i want to go to chucky cheese

everyday it's the same thing and everyday i tell him wait till friday or not today. I'm tired of repeating myself. Any suggestions?

  • Make him a calendar and write on what days he can do that stuff.

  • Dont take him on Friday! Seriously...sounds spoiled to the idea of going somewhere and doing something.

Tell him since he keeps asking and being selfish...you will go NO WHERE this week....maybe the next.

  • Tell him if he asks again you won't be going that week, and then stick to it.

  • I wouldn't say it more than once. If my daughter asked again, after being told the answer, she'd be told NO, that she lost her chance for a treat this week.

  • Tell them you will only say it once. Make eye contact with them when you do (tell them to look in your eyes) and then ignore it when asked again.

  • Sherribeare...why is this cute. I find it annoying when kids always WANT something or EXPECT something! I teach them a lesson by not getting it.

Kids need to be taught that its ok to NOT get something or go somewhere!

  • You truly need to turn a deaf ear. Respond to anything other than that request once you have said no. You can do it!! Remember you are the adult.

  • I would say "Ask me ONE MORE TIME and we won't go on friday either" Then stick to it. You probably won't have this problem for a really really long time.

  • If you do that on Friday then make him a calendar so he knows when Friday is.
