Is there a place that I can purchase discount pediatric medical equipment?

I think that there is a place that you can go to and see if there is any other parents of special needs kids that might have a piece of equipment. We are fighting with insurance to get something covered and we need it so I figured I would look for something used.

  • Look at your local Pharmacy or ask there.

  • There are actually groups set up on Yahoo for equipment exchange, but you take the risk of paying for something & then not getting it. Although most people are honest, I've known it to happen to a couple of people. Of course, it happens the other way, too. I once sent out an item and the buyer never sent payment, and this was someone I had been corresponding with for years & trusted. Ebay is another option to try whether you're looking for new or used equipment/supplies.

If you want to go through a dealer, some good places to check out are American Discount Medical (, e-specialneeds ( and Adaptivemall ( Their prices are reasonable and they have good reputations for service.

  • Oh, and if it is a wheelchair, medical stroller or other large piece of DME that you are after, you could check with your local DME suppliers to see if they have any demo models that would fit your needs that they might be willing to sell at a discount.
