  • I guess because we are most vulnerable to them so anything they do wrong hurts like heck. Now as to WHY they would choose to hurt us? I just don't know. I wish I did.

  • Honestly, I think the reason the things they do can hurt us so bad is because we care. If it were someone you didn't care about, they would not have the power to hurt you.

  • because they're the people you love the most. when you care, you give them power over your emotions. therefore, they have the ability to hurt you worse than someone you don't care as much about.

  • Because they know how to push your buttons. Because you love them so you expect more from them.

  • If you didn't care about them so much, their opinons & actions wouldn't affect you so much. Plus, we naturally want to please & have the approval of the people we care about, so when they are not pleased with us and are critical of us or our choices, it bothers us more than if a total stranger were to express the same thoughts.

  • Because they're the ones that have your heart

Answer by gypsymama532 at 1:16 PM on Sep. 15, 2010

  • Because you have willingly opened yourself up to them completely. You have given them your heart.

Answer by KyliesMom5 at 1:35 PM on Sep. 15, 2010

  • Because those are the ones that are the closest to your heart.

Answer by mom2mybabes at 1:41 PM on Sep. 15, 2010

  • Maybe because we expect the most of those we love.

Answer by wandasquestions at 2:09 PM on Sep. 15, 2010

  • Because you have let them in and exposed yourself to them. When they choose to use that acess and knowledge you have given them to hurt you, it not only hurts more because they are so close, but because you expected the exact opposite from them. They were supposed to be the one to protect you and instead they hurt you. With people we don't know or love we have defenses and just don't care as much, but it's the people that we've let those defenses down with that have the power to hurt us much much worse.
