Do you give your kids an allowance?

Do they have to earn it?

  • Nope. We simply buy what they need/want. Any chores they might be asked to do should be done because they are a part of our family.

  • Not yet. We plan to start allowances once they start school. They will have to earn it. They will get $5 a week. A dollar for each day they do their chore (whatever it may be). The weekends they get to be chore free. =) We will still get them things they need. But if they want a new toy they have to save for it unless it's their birthday or Christmas.

  • When my older 2 were younger they got an allowance provided they did their chores correctly.

  • they will once they get old enough (i'm thinking like 5ish... kindergarten age)
I think its important for kids to learn the value of money, how to earn it, how to save it, etc...

  • I am undecided at this point. I kinda feel like why should I give her money for doing things that she should ready be doing, but at the same time, she needs to understand how money works....
