What is virgin hair?

And why do I have at least two stylists itching to get their hands on my "virgin" hair?

  • I think that I agree with LoriAnn87 - if you have never dyed, highlighted, or chemically treated your hair (perm, ect.). Your hair hasn't been as damage as those who have done these things to their hair. Maybe it would apply to those who stopped the chemical treatments and dying, had all the hair that had went through something cut off, perhaps that too could be called virgin hair, I don't know.

  • Hair that has not had any chemicals...perm, hair color, bleach, etc. You hear this term especially when some one with "virgin hair" is going to have their hair colored. The technique used to put hair color or bleach on differs with different types of hair.

  • Thank ladies.  So why do stylists like colouring virgin hair?

Mrs.B3 how does the technique differ?

  • when you have color or bleach- generally you color the roots when they need it then pull through the rest of the hair at the end
whe you have virgin hair there is no line of demarcation to worry about (where the color or bleach stops and virgin hair starts)
