i am 3 weeks postpartum and suddenly today i have bad abdominal pain....it's not like cramping it's just pain. its above and around my belly button as well as in my back. i had a large baby and this is my second delivery. i stopped bleeding but have had small finger tip size clots today. i am also having BM's but they are hard and small. also still having pain going poo....sorry TMI i kno. i am nursing. could these be after pains or my intestines moving back into place?

  • not sure, are you drinking enough water too? Maybe you are having constipation issues along with everything else, I dont remember that kind of pain, if it doesnt go away I would call an ask a nurse line or something and see what they say.

  • u should see the dotor....i had a c-sectionand 3 weeks later i had very bad pains....turned out i had a womb infection and there were parts of the placenta left behind.....its better to be safe then sorry so getting the doctors opinion is always a good thing. when i went in my doctor said that if ur pains get worse by mignight go into hospital (emergency) otherwise u should be okay. when i came back hom my mum said "no, u should go straight to the hospital don't wait 12 hours till midnight, go right now!" so i did.

when they ran some blood work there started me on antibiotics through the IV straight away and said that if they hadn't gotten my started on that within the next two hours then the infection would have spread to into the blood stream....eek

but i had a fever and pain....but its always good to get a medical opinion

  • I'm going to take an exlax and see if that helps. I might be constipated or trying to go and my intestines are being sluggish. If i dont' feel better by morning I will call

  • Drink more water or liquid. Nursing depelets you a little bit and you need extra fluids too. Sounds like it with the pooping problem. Try do get hydrated I always have that problem then I drink more. Good luck.

  • I would call your Doctor just to be safe. However, it sounds like that you are having constipation issues. That can cause a lot of pain and issues in your stomach. Try drinking Apple Juice or Prune Juice.
