  • the environment also plays a role in why hair color fades.

obviously swimming in bleach water will tone the hair, chemicals in your water can alter the hair color, etc. Which is why it's best to use a GOOD color protectant shampoo and conditioner.

If your water is too hard, it can leave hair brassy. If it's soft and has too many chemicals to soften it, it can leave it ashy, or even green tinted.

  • Pretty much nothing... it all fades within a month. I go to the salon and it lasts about 2 mths. Reds tend to fade faster no matter what brand you use.

  • if it's permanent it's permanent.

permanent hair color lifts the cuticle and deposits color pigments. If hair is over processed, (which box brands will help speed the process of), it can allow for pigments to wash out because the cuticle won't properly reseal.

this is why box color is not advicable. it uses 20 volume developer and most hair colors don't NEED a 20 volume developer, especially if you are staying the same level or going darker.

if your hair color is coming out, I suggest some protien treatments and good shampoos and conditioners (professional brands are the best).
