Does Peace not matter? Is this Acceptable?

16 families who pay rent to Feisal Abdul Rauf (who also happens to be the spiritual leader of the proposed Islamic center near Ground Zero) in Union City, NJ don't have any working smoke alarms.

NewJersey.com~In fact, if not for the pleading of Union City Mayor Brian Stack, those families wouldn't have electricity or gas either. PSE&G threatened to turn off the juice last week because Rauf failed to pay a bill of almost $5,000.
Stack asked for more time – and PSE&G relented. But then city inspectors discovered the fire alarms were broken anyway. Since Friday, the city has assigned police officers to stand guard outside the building round-the-clock in case a fire breaks out and the residents need to be pulled from their apartments.
How does Rauf's representative respond to question?

  • He's a jerk, not a peace maker. In all reality I guess this whole Mosque mess could be a godsend for those 16 families. They have been complaining for years and receiving band aid fixes at the most. Now the judge has ordered the repairs done. I hope they toss his keester in jail if he doesn't comply.

  • "we stand for peace where peace matters" and "we take from the poor when we need money"

  • I posted in a group yesterday about him being a slum lord I am not sure anyone even looked at it. He loses all credibility when he shows such lack of character in how he runs his business. He knows his tenants can't go anywhere else so he has all the power. Glad he was exposed. I am sure someone will come along with links about others who are slumlords to get people off topic because they think this guy is so great.lol

  • what does 'standing for peace' have to do with not paying the electric bill or holding up your end of accepting rent?

(admittedly did not read the link..i stand for laziness, today. LOL!)

  • "We stand for peace where peace matters," Rauf's assistant, Nancy Shihadeh said.

  • Please read the full article... Shouldn't he get his 'business affairs' in order and treat people with human decency they deserve before he takes on another Real Estate endeavor ?

SO TRUE!!!! I hope they get justice and if it is because of the "high profile" endeavors surrounding him in other real estate matters?  Good.
