  • Four months is a bit young to crawl

  • Give him time, he will crawl soon enough, and then you'll wish he was 4 months again,lol..... Yes 4 months is too young to crawl.

  • Yeah i think 4 months is pretty young for that.

My 9-month-old still doesn't crawl properly. She has the army crawl down but not hands-and-knees yet.

  • I agree wtih Misteh, four months is a bit early. My children crawled at 7 and 8 months. When your baby gets up on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth, he's trying. Put a toy just out of his reach and he'll be motivated to go after it!

  • I agree with the rest of the moms. Don't stress yourself out he will crawl when he is ready too. You can put him on the floor on his back with one of the gym play where he has little toys around him and he can play that on his pack. So that he can get used to being on his back. That could be a start. Just be patient with him and he will crawl when he is ready.

  • It sounds a bit young, but when he is ready he'll do it.

  • You don't teach babies to crawl, or sit, or walk, or eat. When they are developmentally ready (these are all very complex sets of movements) and have the strength and coordination they will do it. You need only to provide OPPORTUNITY. That means lots of babywearing (good for muscle development and stimulation) and floor and ground time (the floor is free!) with some interesting toys. Limit or eliminate time in baby bouncers, containers, and carseats outside of the car.

  • he'll do it when he's ready, not when your ready and they are absolutely right, its pretty impossible for a four month old to crawl really. most dont have the muscles and coordination down because they havent had time to strengthen up yet, more tummy time will help him learn to hold his head up then he'll get up on his arms, then on all fours, then he'll crawl.
