Would you consider this rude:

It's one of the girls birthdays here at work and the boss is taking everyone to lunch. Everyone that is except me. i'm the newest employee and have already been here almost 3 months. Would you consider this rude?

  • Um yeah. My DH's work does birthday things for their employees. Even the newest of employees get to join in the fun.

  • Yes because everyone should be included that wants to go regardless of the time frame. It gives you a chance to mingle with the employees there. I would go along anyway if I were you. It probably will be fun and why should you miss out.

  • Is there a reason? Like you have to cover the phones or something and you are low man on the totum pole? Did your boss discuss this with you or did you just find out? I need more details before I can decide...

  • i just found out from the receptionist. I don't work at a huge company. it's 6 of us total in the office. And there's definitely an employee in another section that can cover the phones- he's done it before. this is the first time i'm excluded.
