I've never gotten a grant before and the last time I went to college was 9 years ago. I just got an email that I received a disbursement to my account. Yay! I wasn't expecting it until the 24th, as I'm considered a "new student" but this appears to only be the remainder of the Pell Grant for this semester.
Does anyone know if it's normal to get grant money separate from loans? They weren't even supposed to start disbursements until tomorrow so I'm kind of feeling like it's a too-good-to-be-true moment.
Anyone have any experience with this?

My college applies all financial aid and disburses the rest left over. They tell us disbursements start on first day of class, but I always have the Friday before class starts. I would just call.
