What are your favorite low calorie, low fat, low sodium salad dressings?

I thought I loved salad, but since starting a diet I have decided I actually love salad dressing! I need to find some dressings that won't kill my diet efforts, because I'm not sure how much longer I can keep eating salads with just vinegar or lemon juice.

  • Litehouse has some great low-fat,low cal dressings. I'm not 100% certain of their sodium values because it's not an extreme concern of mine, but I don't recall them being really outrageous. My favorite is blueberry pomegranate. It's amazing on a salad of spring greens or baby spinach w/ strawberries!

  • I just like virgin olive oil and a little garlic salt. Good fat is good for you ;)

  • paul newman's light italian and hidden valley light ranch... make sure to check labels... generally, "Fat free" has more sodium than "light"

  • I haven't tried it myself, but I worked at a pizza place back in high school. Some lady always came in and asked for pizza sauce for dressing on her salad. A couple Italian restaurants in the area have some sort of marinara sauce as their "House" dressing, DH says it's good. I haven't tried it myself.

I'm a fan of simple balsamic vinegar and a touch of extra virgin olive oil.

  • Oh, and I don't know the actual nutritional content, but my friend's dad made up some dressing that's really good. 1/3 oil (he uses random vegetable oil, I'd use evoo), 1/3 lemon juice, 1/3 honey and I forget how much, but add lemon pepper to suit your taste.

  • Ken's light sesame ginger! It is so good, even my DH likes it, and he hates most "light" versions of anything.

  • Light catalina or french is good, and also Wishbone makes a "Robusto Italian" that is by far my favorite. They are both low cal and fat, Im not sure about sodium though,
