Non-marital Property?

I am looking at a divorcee. My husban and I purchased a home before we were married. It is still in the Tenants in Common status, we never re-deeded it to joint ownership. will this be considered an non-marital property. My husban put $125,000 doen on the home, if sold will he get his 125,000 first and then we split the rest?

  • Each state varies. But the general rule is anything aquired together is up for a split, even if it was aquried together before marriage. Hire a lawyer.
