When you're sitting in a coffee shop is it rude or unacceptable to work on your grocery list?

I don't mean spread a ton of flyers across the table but just with a little note pad.

  • No that's crazy... people usually go to coffee shops for "me time" and to get stuff done.

  • Not unless you're there to have coffee with someone. If you're there all by yourself, go for it. I work at coffee shops all the time. It would be rude if you were ignoring a person at your own table, though.

  • You can do what you want while you are sitting their. People read, mess with their phones, do home work.

  • I doubt anyone even cares what a total stranger is doing at another table

  • No, I wouldn't think it would be rude. People work, do homework, talk on cell phones at the coffee shops I frequent. I can't see working on a grocery list really bothering anyone.

  • Not at all. Coffee shops exist for sitting there and getting some kind of work done. As long as it doesn't interfere with other customers' ability to enjoy themselves, it's no problem.
