Do you plant a vegetable garden each year?

We plant one each year and rotate in new selections and then enjoy our harvest throughout the year.

  • Yep, sure do. We have our "every year must haves" - potatoes, green beans, sweet corn. We try a couple new things most years - sometimes they stay, sometimes they're "never again". We ahve a lot of stuff that we say "never again" but always plant again. This year I planned most of my garden around my homemade spaghetti sauce - then half the stuff died. What we did have grow well: potatoes, green beans, sweet corn, snow peas, carrots, onions, eggplant (2 varieties), summer squash, ... ugh, can't think now. We had a ton of early stuff like lettuce, spinach, radishes...and we also tried planting some sweet potatoes for the first time - don't know what they're doing underground but above they look like they're supposed to, we're waiting for them to do what the info said before we dig them up.

  • This was our first one. We made wooden boxes with wooden legs and planted tomatoes and peppers just to see if it would work. And it worked great. We still have tomatoes and peppers coming in and probably a month left before it gets too cold. Now that I know it works, next year we may get a little more creative and plant other vegetables. Our landlord said we could have a garden, but we did not want to tear up his lawn. When we move down to TX, we will do the wooden boxes again. There were no weeds and the only thing we worried about were squirrels and birds.
