Real or instant mashed potatoes?

For regular mashed potatoes, I make the real thing....for my twice baked potato cassarole, I use instant.

  • Real only.........how do you do the twice baked with instant......that doesn't sound too bad.

  • I think instant is an ok shortcut, that I notice lots of restaurants taking, but I think the quality of real (and I know twice baked takes lots of effort) is worth the time and work.

  • I love mashed potatoes and I really can't stand the flavor of the instant. To me, it really doesn't take that much longer to make the real deal!

  • Real. I used to love the betty crocker butter and herbs potatoes before they tried to make it "more like home made" it was nasty after that.

  • When I need to satisfy a 3-year-old's demands in 2 minutes or less, instant. When I want to eat them myself, I want the real thing!
