How can I teach my 10 month old to put herself back to sleep during the night?

We are having a real hard time with this. We have been doing the timed waiting approach, and it has worked 1/2 way she goes to sleep with little fuss to no problem but during the night has been getting bad. It seemed like it was working and then nope she will cry and cry and cry. I don't know where to go from here. Feeling hopeless. any advice i would be greatful. Thanks

  • If you let her cry and dont run in everytime then she'll go to sleep. She needs to learn to soothe herself and that will only happen if you're not at her beckoned call. Thats what I did and it was the best thing I could have ever done :) GL

  • i would reccomend taking her to your bed when she cries at night. get her back to sleep then put her in her crib. she just might be a little scared or lonely. after a while she will sleep though the night. she just needs to know you are there for her.

  • please do not let your baby cry it out. Babies will eventually learn to sooth themselves at night. Crying it out doesn't teach them to sooth themselves. It just teaches them that mom doesn't care enough to come get her so she might as well not even bother. Give it some time. She's only 10 months old. Before you know it you will miss the days she actually wanted you to hug, cuddle and love her. Just wait, one day she'll be a teen and you'll miss those days

  • There is a great new product on the market that helps babies sleep better and longer called the magic sleepsuit. It was designed by a mom and pediatric physical therapist. It helps sooth the baby if woken to fall back asleep. Best thing is that it helps train them to fall back asleep on their own. Check out the site at www.magicsleepsuit.com. It has lots of information and testimonials from moms who have used it.
