Braxton hicks or contractions?

So i went to go pee last night and then i had these horibbile pains but i was sure they were braxton hicks... they last longer than they usually did though, and when i laid down they didn't go away but they didn't bother me as much. Should i be timing things now to make sure they're not contractions? I'm only 33 weeks pregnant so i've got a little ways to go but i wasn't sure if i should be timing these things yet. (first baby)

  • I had the SAME thing when I was pregnant. The doctor told me to absolutely begin timing IS possible for you to go into labor at 33 weeks. So, I would definitely time them and if they last too long or begin getting worse, I would call your doctor immediately.

  • I had those while I went to pee about two weeks ago. So annoying, and it hurt so bad :( I haven't had them since though. They say real labor doesn't go away, but BH or false labor does. Also, real labor only gets worse as it goes on, it doesn't start to feel better or anything. If you want to be safe you can time them and call your doctor, but you won't know what they'll say until you do so...good luck!

  • If you are getting Braxton Hicks frequently then you should be counting them. If you get more than ? in 2 hrs then you have to drink lots of fluids and lay on your left side until they subside.
Sorry I can't remember the number
I started getting them at around 30 weeks with my second and I didn't deliver until he was 40 weeks.

  • If they are real contractions they will be regular... get in a warm shower and then lay on your left side... if they go away they are braxton hicks, if they continue and are regular....... call your ob/gyn and start timing.....

  • I have said before on many other peoples similar questions that just because they are not regular does NOT mean that they are not real. I went into Pre-Term Labor at 33 weeks (actually 33 1/2) but my contractions were NOT regular but was still very REAL labor.

If the pains are still happening, then you need to call your doctor and go get checked out.
