What is your opinion? My son's halloween costume.

My son is going as a bum this halloween. We have bums at every stop sign in town with cardboard signs. (They are a well organized group, not truely in need.)
Anyway, my 13yo son said he wanted to be a bum. His sign will read "Homeschooled, will work for books. Anything helps, God bless." Or "Teenager, will work for candy, Anything helps, God bless."
What is your opinion?

  • I think it's a great idea. I went as a bum when I was about 13 or so. We had bums all over our town as well. I don't think it's a big deal. It's halloween. As long as he is in a safe neighborhood trick or treating then it's no big deal.

  • I think it sounds like a witty social statement, but I would be careful because sometimes people get violent when they get offended.

  • It's a cute idea, but it may offend the bums. What not dress him as a Hobo instead? You know the sotty faced carpet bagger looking guy with a stick with a red bandana sack tied to the end ofit? That way you wont be offending the well organized bums.

  • I like the home educated part! BUT you might offend. I told my son that when he got his t-shirt that said "I beat anorexia, and boy I beat it good!" He is a big guy at 6' and 250 pounds--football player:-)
