What toys keep your child most entertained?

What toy does your child have the keeps them entertained for longer than 5 minutes? I'm looking for Christmas ideas that won't end up being a waste of money.

  • My son (3) personally loves those dinosaurs that are in the dollar bin at Target or Wal Mart. He also likes army men, building blocks, and cars.

  • To be truthful my daughter is 5 now but when she was 4 years old I stared shopping early (September probably ) to buy her everything I thought she might wanted. My oldest child received a present that came in a big box. Needless to say the empty box was what she played with for hours. So what ever you buy, make sure theirs a big box .

  • for the tot, anything Dora related. For my son, video games, but I don't let him play them during the week because he won't do homework.

  • Big, empty boxes also entertain my son and daughter. They can plan together for hours and NOT fight. Which is always a plus when sharing a "Toy"
