Ok... my sister is getting ready to babysit an 8mos old full time....

What are somethings that she needs to be aware of? Like what will the baby eat? What will the baby want to play with?? Stuff along those lines.

  • The mother of the baby should be tellling her and giving her everything the baby will need, from food and bottles to diapers and toys. It's a common sense thing when watching a baby.

  • At 8 months old, my son was crawling well and pulling up.. So everything was in his path. Everything on the floor, and every table. She needs to baby proof, and keep a good eye on that baby at all times. They move lightning fast. She also needs to ask the mother what the baby eats. That way she is sure not to feed her anything she has an allergy too. Also, I would tell her if she is trying a new food, make sure she follows the rule about starting one new food at a time and waiting a couple days in between new foods. And of course with a baby that age, anything and everything will be in their mouths and they can find the tiniest things on the floor from staples to rocks to leaves.. they will find and eat everything!
