At what age should I start my newborn with daily tummy time?

I place her on my chest now tummy down and she can hold her 4 week old neck up pretty well. When should I start placing her on her tummy on the playmats, etc?

  • Now- even newborns need tummy time when awake. If you wait too long, they will balk and cry- I work in the Nicu and we always instruct parents to start TT immediately (with proper supervision).
