Would you let your toddler constantly scream?

Especially if you lived in a cozy apartment bldg? UGH!

  • It depends what he's crying about. If his feelings are hurt or I can tell that he's honestly upset, I'll sing "you are my sunshine" and cuddle him. If he's mad at me - because he doesn't want to lay down with me to take his nap, for example - I'll tickle him. If he's just throwing a fit because he doesn't want to listen (like staying where I can see him or not jumping on the couch) I sit him in a chair and tell him that he can get up when he's done. Not like a time out thing, but more a him knowing he has his place to get it out of his system. Although I do do time outs when he's being naughty...

  • Sometimes you can't help it, but no, I wouldn't just go about my day while the baby cried.

  • LOL ... no. Are they hurting? Scared?

  • Yeah, if my toddler is having a fit, I've let her have her fit. Sometimes a toddler has to calm themselves down.

  • this is what a a mom does at my sons school with a 2 yr old. He is in her daughters class and we have had play dates and I can't stand to be there very long. The kid just screams if he doesn't get what he wants till they give it to him. I have a 2 yr old too and my daughter just looked at him like what the heck is wrong with you??? Yes my daughter cries but not like that little boy so I would not tolerate this well!

  • There might be a special need that makes it pointless to punish for yelling or screaming.

  • (although he's almost three... when he was younger I sang to him more, and disciplined him less...)

  • No I wouldn't, because he/she would be disturbing our neighbors. And you never know the other persons schedule.
