my son has never smiled since birth.. is this bad? he has a brain injury so im wondering if its because of that..

  • How old is your son? Most don't smile a real social smile until closer to 4-5 months.

  • Depends on how old he is. My youngest is 2 months and just started smiling in the last week or so. He doesn't do it all the time, though. Only when his tummy is full, his diaper is changed and he's in a good mood. Then he smiles and makes faces at us.

  • It all depends on the baby, but since you mention a brain injury next time you are at the pediatrician ask for a general milestone guideline for your baby. Like for preemies there is a guideline that goes by their due date rather than birth date that is more accurate than going by the regular milestone timeline.
