  • I like that mine are close in age 17 months apart but I could see how being closer to 2 years apart could be optimal. How many kids do you already have, and how many do you want?

  • i say three years; that way you dont have them so close together that you have two babies to take care of as well as two in diapers but they are close enough to be able to play together. Any more then 4 years apart and you start running into the problem of them not being able to play together and the younger one is always trying to do something with the older one when they have nothing in common.

  • Mine are about 3 1/2 years apart and in our family it was perfect! the older was well past potty training and in the "i want to be independant and help with everything" stage with minimal jealousy.

  • I think it's good to have one "house-broken" and moderately independent before having another. 2 to 4 years sounds good. My first two were 4 years apart exactly.

  • 3 to 4 years. The older kid is potty trained and more independent by the time a new baby is in the house. I personally could never have more than one in diapers and strollers.
