  • Women often confuse any vaginal bleeding as their period because that is what they are used to happening. You did not experience a period; you experienced vaginal bleeding! This is a common occurrence and a wide misconception. You cannot have a period while you are pregnant because both of these functions cannot happen at the same time. If you were pregnant and began menstruating, inevitably you would lose the pregnancy or have a miscarriage. Although you can't be pregnant and have a period at the same time, you can, in fact, experience vaginal bleeding and continue to be pregnant. These are two very different terms: vaginal bleeding and menstruation (period), but it is usually vaginal bleeding that women confuse as their periods.

  • Well, usually the first signs of pregnancy is a missed period. But sometimes you spot and don't necissarily get a period and that's usually a sign of implanation. So was your period light and short?

  • Some women experience implantation bleeding during early pregnancy...which is just spotting. Also some complications can cause bleeding during pregnancy such as placenta previa. But none of that is your period.

  • No, you cannot have a period- as in actual menstruation- and also be pregnant. But yes, you can have bleeding or spotting that you mistake for a period and still be pregnant.

  • You can have some spotting and be pregnant. Rarely, a woman can have periods thru her entire pregnancy. If you think your pregnant and start bleeding, talk to your doctor.
