When your kid's friends come over do you feed them?

Tonight my daughter's friend came over and they're watching a movie. My daughter hadn't had dinner yet and I didn't want her to eat in front of her friend,so I fed him, since he was hungry too.I gave him 3 chicken nuggets and a capri sun.

  • depends...i used to not feed the nieghbor kids that could walk a block or two home if they were hungry. if they lived driving distance, then yes..i would feed them but my kids would have to let me know they were coming over first so i can be a bit prepared.

if the friend came over often, i would have to set a rule that my child has to eat first then the friend can come over so i wouldnt have to feed the friend everyday

  • i was raised with the traditionally southern hospitality belief that you feed every guest in your home. anyone who comes to my house for any reason is always offered food and/or a drink....i wouldnt freak out about ruining his dinner, i doubt any kid has ever suffered permanent damage from 3 chicken nuggets.

  • yes of course, esp if they are an invited friend. If its a neighbour or someone who comes over all the time and I know their Mother is expecting them home for dinner then I wouldnt that would be the only reason why I wouldnt.

  • most definitely. if my daughter is over at her friends house, and they're eating, then she always eats. i would probably feed them a little bit more than what you gave, but i'm assuming he was going home shortly, anyway?
