How accurate was the U/S weight that was estimated for your baby?

My twins are estimated to be about 6#'s 3 ounces and 6#'s 11 ounces atm... were the estimates you received via ultrasound fairly accurate?

  • Mine were both under estimated by a good pound. This time around I am hoping they will be closer to the U/S.

  • At 7 months they told me he was 6 pounds, and he could be as large as an 8-9 lb baby! He was born 2 weeks early at 7 lb 5 oz 22 inches.

  • Our u/s techs and obs here don't do u/s weights- they just measure the bones and tell you the average age for measurement of head, arms, torso, legs, etc. Only time I've ever been told weight was at a level 2 u/s this time around for a ntd screening- they told me it was right on track for 19 weeks at roughly 10 ounces.

  • Our clinic doesn't do the weight estimates because they can be off by a few ounces to a few pounds depending on the tech and the baby's position, etc.
