Can excess belly fat make it harder for things to been seen correctly in an early pregnancy ultrasound, even a vaginal ultrasound?

  • With the vaginal u/s they seen everything alot better. I got to see my baby's hb at 7wks and heard it at 10wks. I even got to see a gestational sac at 5.5wks it was amazing. I just don't like how uncomfortable the vaginal u/s is.

  • I don't think it would affect a transvaginal ultrasound. I think you'd have to be hugely obese for it even to be a likelihood. I'm carrying around some extra weight myself and just recently had both... neither of which did we have difficulty with. Excess fat MIGHT contribute to not being able to HEAR your baby [heart] but I don't think it would impede imaging.
