What is a good bedtime for a 5 and 6 yr old?

They go to daycare so they get up around 6 am in the morning and I just want to make sure they are getting enough rest. Ty

  • My children went to bed at 8pm at that age. And getting up at 6 gives them 10 good hours of sleep which is what that age group needs.

  • Our doc says 3-5 years old need about 10-12 hours a day and 5-9 years old need about 9-11 hours a day. That includes any time they nap during the day too. You really need to base it on how your children react. Mine are both fine at around the bottom of those ranges, but my SILs kids both definitely need to upper end of that range.

  • Mine are 5 and 7 and go to school and they have to be in bed by 7:30 on school nights. They fall asleep fast, and get up happily in the morning so I know they need it.

  • 12 hours before they need to get up is a guideline.
