  • I'd go with a level 3 or 4 "highlights"

for warm skin tones I'd go with an all over warmer level 2 base

for cooler skin tones, keep it a cool black shade of a level 1 or 2 base

for blue or gray eyes go with a cooler level 3 or 4 "highlights"
for browns or hazels go with a warmer (red/ golden) level 3 or 4 "highlights"
green can do either or, but with fall and winter coming up, I'd prbably go with warmer tones.

  • How old are you- do you dye it black or would you have gray or white grow out? If the second is the case maybe do a gray highlight. Think Stacy from the t.v. show What Not To Wear...

  • you could do light golden brown highlights if you didn't want to go red. My hair is naturally dark brown/black (more black though) and when I try to do light golden brown, the gray roots are lighter and it looks like highlights and if I could get the black part of my hair to go that light (just a few strands, for highlights) it would look good. I just can't pay the $80 bucks or so that they charge in the salon, so I do mine at home.
