are there any scriptures about why it is wrong to accuse without facts? Or your paranoia isloates you?

A certain family member of mine has lately gone a bit off the deep end. Accusing everyone they know of ridiculous things. They wont listen to anyone- yet will go to the bible for council. I am trying to find a scripture that can help me change their views. Something along the lines of , don't accuse someone of false acts. Or that they isolate themselves with their paranoia... Anything?

  • don't accuse someone of false acts.

I'm pretty sure that's summed up in the 9th commandment. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor"

  • Is this person a believer in Jesus Christ?
If so.. the bible speaks against believers causing division.
However the better way to go about this is is to just love the person. If you are a believer.. pray and ask God to reveal in her heart how to approach people in a way that is Christ like and loving instead.
Its not always a good idea to bring up a scripture that will come across to them as tearing down. You need to come across as encouraging them to do the right thing. The bible also talks about how there is a time when you need to just be silent and let God be God in the situation.

  • start quoting Greek myths at her and tell her she's angering Zeus and that he'll zap her with his lightning bolt for her blasphemy against the Olympian Gods. When she looks at you like you've lost your mind, tell her thats exactly how she's sounding to everyone else.
