1 Bump

i have a 6 month old puppy

and he is not fixed. was wondering if fixing him now will stop him from marking. i feel he is still just young enough that by fixing him that even if he has marked that he will stop. what do you think?

  • It will help and the best time is between 4 and 6 months. One of the best things to do is to keep working with him and descent anything he has marked. I like to use is a descent spray (like the hunters use) . Walmart also has some sprays that will help future marking on things they have already found a scent on. Just out of curiousity, what kind of dog is he? Have fun !! :-)

  • It couldn't hurt to have him fixed, but if the marking continues, it cam be trained out of the dog. Smaller breed dogs and breeds with more territorial instincts may still mark after castration.

  • 6 months is actually the PERFECT time to get dogs fixed...i wouldnt wait much longer..and yes it will help!! i have 2 maltipoo x shihtzus, and they both stopped doin that after they got neutered

  • it's a shih tzu. i know it benefits them in a lot of other ways i was hoping that i would help with the marking. i guess we'll see.
