Weaning from formula...

I need ideas for weaning a 16 month old from Nutramigen to hemp milk. He doesn't want the hemp milk at all and only wants his formula. He will drink it mixed half and half but ONLY in the mornings, and only about 4-5oz, not his normal 7oz. There's no option for any other "milk," it has to be hemp milk or stay on Nutramigen, and I don't want him to stay on Nutramigen even as long as he has, much less longer.

  • does he need the milk? is there another dietary option to replace the milk? check with the ped for options. But might be best to just keep offering him mixed until he takes it. If there's nothing else to drink, he'll have to, right?

  • He has to get the fat from somewhere, and its NOT coming from his diet. So, yes he needs to either stay on Nutramigen or transition to Hemp Milk.
