  • We all look, but rarely see.

It takes time and effort and an open heart to really see. We tend to keep an eye out for the most obvious dangers, or obstacles in our path, but we do not look at the bruises on the abused womans face, or the haunted look in the hungry child, or the despair in the homeless one's eyes. To see would mean to feel, and to react, and maybe to get involved. Blindness is easier.

  • looking is the physical act and seeing is the mental understanding. for instance, you could look at your husband every day but are you SEEING him? do you understand who he is at his very core and what makes him tick? i would always hope that while the rest of the world just looks at me, that my husband SEES me

  • WyndenSkie puts it well. I see if I'm in a mental space to see. So often I'm going through the motions of my day. But when I was in Africa, I "saw" it all and gained enormous perspective....but perspective can be in our own back yard too. I liken it to humility.
