When did you switch your kids from whole to 2% milk

  • He was about 1 1/2. We got on WIC. They said whole milk wasn't very good for him.... so they wanted us to give him 2%... Didn't really have a choice but 2% doesn't taste too much different and it was free. He did fine with the change!

  • I think you are supposed to wait until they're two... to the above poster that says WIC told you whole milk wasn't good for him??? What in the world??? I've never heard such a thing. I hope you ran that by your doctor.

  • my son is on 2 % and hes 1 i know they say whole milk is best but he seems fine to me

  • We waited til my daughter was about a year and a half, I was buying 2 gallons of Whole and 2 gallons of 2% because I LOOOVE milk but will not drink the whole... my husband was going nutts! He felt like buying the cow would have been cheaper...lol. So we talked to her pediatrician and he said it was fine to switch over.

  • mine was at about age 2 because wic changed her milk to 2 percent because they show whole to be very fattening which isnt good for little kids
