My 3 almost 4 yr old DD started this hyper not listening loud attitude....

Just out of no where she started back talking, not listening, being loud, super hyper, and just putting out a lot of attitude. Now she wasn't a quiet child to begin with but her recent attitude is ridiculous! I am having a hard time dealing with her. I thought maybe its because she has a little sister but this all started a month or two ago and her sister just turned 1 a month ago. I've tried talking to her. I've tried punishing her, I've tried wearing her out, I've tried time out, and taking things away. I have also tried the reward system but nothing seems to work. She is exhausting!!! Does anyone have any ideas? I seriously need help!

  • Set steadfast ground rules for what you will accept as far as talking back/tone/attitude is concerned and be ready to follow through.

Careful here too though, she is "coming into her own" and she needs your help channeling those fiery emotions, not necessarily always shutting them down.

  • Do you have my child or something?
She will be 4 Oct 31... And here in the last 2wks I feel like im about to lose my mind!!! I really do not know what to do with her or myself.. She will let out a blood curling scream for small things.. not listening... and today she has started laughing at bad things -- like while playing with my hair she hurt me, and instead of saying sorry or hugging me like usual she just laughed ..
Very much not like herself! :-( She has always been a strong willed child, but really has been an "easy kid" with a big heart... I went from feeling like I was doing OK in parenting to feeling like i have no control..

And she is an only child..

  • My daughter turns 4 Nov. 24th. She was the same way. Very strong willed bud was such a lover. Now shes a terror. I'm not sure what to do. My husband works a lot (military) and so its usually just me and the girls. I too thought I was doing a good job but now I find myself constantly second guessing everything I do.

  • we are on the same boat!! she's active to begin with but right after school she becomes a nut! you have to stick to one routine and not change it or just ignore her. have you started doing something different? if so, that might be affecting her.
